August 22nd: JAM City!
With the move to two services in January, the Kids’ Church program was presented with the same issues as other Sunday ministries - how to best serve the needs of our children in this new environment. Among the issues that we encountered were having enough teachers and praise leaders for each service. Unfortunately, we fell short in having enough praise leaders. This resulted in inconsistencies between the 9:00 and 11:00 program. We also had issues with some classes being too small and other times we had overcrowded classes. Because of this we felt that having Kids’ Church at one service will have more meaning and make for a more effective ministry. So this fall when we go back to two services, we will be having Kids’ Church at the 11:00 service only. But that’s not the only change to come this fall. We have a new name. From now on Kids’ Church will be known as JAM City! JAM is short for “Jesus and Me”.
We are also changing to a new curriculum that we are really excited about. The curriculum is called “Living Inside Out”. This program will consist of a large group portion for all children followed by a small group discussion geared to the learning level of the children. Our goal is to make this an exciting learning environment that will entertain our children so that they will look forward to coming back! The large group sessions include interactive DVD’s, drama video or object lessons, and upbeat music. The small group sessions will encourage the kids to ask questions, make discoveries about God and share their faith. The content is “fresh” and “cool” with a new theme every month.
Another change that we are happy to announce is that we will be welcoming children in JK to Grade 6! Yes, now grade 4-6 will be meeting every week instead of monthly!
Interested in investing in children, but not comfortable working directly with kids? We would love to have you join the team in one of the following positions:
“CITY DESIGNER” –This position involves creating simple visual displays, which enhance the monthly theme. This will aid in creating a fun and stimulating environment for the kids we serve. You would be in charge once every three months.
“CITY DJ”-This AV position involves running the DVD curriculum alongside the large group leader. You would serve for two Sunday mornings in a row and then have four off.
“CITY SHOPPER” – This position involves shopping for supplies needed for our small groups. Most items can be found at the dollar or grocery store and all purchases will be reimbursed.
“CITY EQUIPMENT MANAGER” – This involves organizing the materials needed by small group leaders. This can be done at home, at church and whenever you want!
SALARY? Big smiles, high fives and hugs
BENEFITS? Eternal blessings
If interested, please contact Paul D. or Nicole Broersma. Our team is really excited about the new season. We hope that your children will be too. We hope to see them at JAM City on September 12th, with our first theme called “In the Doghouse”!
July 25th: GEMS Girls’ Clubs Conference in Minneapolis!
This past week Thursday – Sunday over 570 GEMS Counselors from across North America will be meeting together at Bethel University in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. These three and a half days of leadership training, worship, and fellowship will equip women and prepare them for the upcoming GEMS season. The annual theme, Feed the Fire! will be revealed and women will be challenged to move from apathy to action, keeping their spiritual fervor for serving the Lord. Please join in praying for the event and for each woman who attends, that God will be glorified and that lives will be changed.
